Greetings everyone,

I just joined the group after sitting in a bonanza for the first time over the weekend. While I’ve never heard anyone complain about them, I never believed everything I heard either. The more I learn, the more I want to learn.

My wife and I have two daughters and a pair of German Shepherds and look forward to day trips to the beach or the mountains and now we’re looking for the right airplane to make that happen, leaning toward a mid-range 35- or early 33-series airframe. I am working through the final stages of my flight training at Middle Georgia State University and hope to be working in my second career as a professional pilot after retiring from the Army nearly three years ago.

Welcome Scott.

If you're thinking of buying any Beechcraft, you've come to the right place. From the sound of your mission, you might want to consider a 58. :peace:

As the girls and dogs grow, a 35/33 might get tight.

Don't worry there is a plethora of experts/opinions on BT to assist you.

Welcome to the “Tribe” Scott

Let me know if there are any GS puppies coming down the road.

Mike

I don’t think I’ll ever forget my first flight in a Bonanza. It put me on a trajectory that has changed my life for the better. Bonanzas are incredible machines!

You’ve come to the right place. There’s a ton to learn here.

Welcome!

Before getting to far along with this, I recommend you take the W&B data from some of the planes listed in the thread linked below and see if you can make your cabin load work. Many BE35s and BE33s have issues with aft CG loading and probably cannot handle four people plus two big dogs unless the daughters are really light. Chances are you'd need a BE36 for that load and probably one with tip tanks which increase the max gross weight. Keep in mind that the kids will probably get heavier in a few years.

Almost any Baron would work since you can balance the cabin load with stuff in the nose baggage compartment but they do cost more to operate. Typically they are less expensive to purchase though.
