Hello Beechtalk community, I hope everyone is doing well. I'm new to GA, Beechtalk, and Bonanzas, but I like everything I've heard thus far.

New pilot in the market for my first plane. While some may say the Bonanza is a lot of aircraft for a new pilot, I've spent some time in my friend's V35B as well as 172s, Warriors, and PA32s. I can say, without a doubt, Bonanza is the plane for my family and me. :)

Now that's out of the way, why am I posting? I have a bit of a problem. I like both the A36 and F33A. I know, everyone says buy for your mission. My mission is flying my family of 6 (me, my wife, and four kids, all under age 8) around the Southeast. I'm not looking to make any significant XC trips before getting my IR, and after obtaining IR, I don't plan XC trips over 4 hours. With small kids (or kids in general) I don't plan to fly more than 2 hours before potty and stretch breaks. The longest trips would be to Louisiana at about 3 1/2 hours max (plus time for the 2-hour bathroom break). I think most of my trips will be light to no luggage and no more than 3 hours. I foresee about 60/40 single flying to family flying the first year, about 50/50 the next, and hopefully 60/40 family after year 3 or 4. :pilot:

I've narrowed it down to two aircraft, a 78 A36 and a 76 F33A. Both have six seats and 1200+ useful loads, but we all know the CG issues with the F33A. As my family gets bigger, I'm considering I can add TNT (for more the CG advantages than the turbo, although that's a cool feature as well) and aft baggage STC. Just saying, it's an option, expensive or otherwise. Well just expensive, not otherwise! The A36 also needs the aft baggage STC and some other upgrades, but it's free of the CG issues and ten more inches to play with. I like the acquisition price of the 33 as it offers more room to do upgrades. Naturally higher than the F33A, I like the price of the A36 as I believe it's a good buy at a below (current) market price.

I'm thinking maybe I will buy the F33A and partner with someone on the A36 as I feel I'll only need it for longer XC trips (Louisiana distance and further) or if I need to carry a heavy load or lots of baggage. I can fly the 33 when I'm less than heavy, with light to no luggage, or to get out and go flying for the hell of it. :woot:

Speaking of which, is anyone in the Atlanta area with an A36 looking for a partner? If so, let's chat.

Beech community, what are your thoughts and feedback? Thank you for the comments. :coffee:
