Aircraft: Debonair 33c
My name is Jenny Blalock (TNFlygirl) and Im happy to be apart of this group. I have always loved Beechcraft and just recently purchased a 65 Debonair. Almost all of my hours have been in Piper Cherokees. I have my first "lesson" in my Deb tomorrow! Im so used to the throttle quad. I hope I adjust nicely to the "knob" handles (for lack of other words). I over think everything, so Im praying its easier than what I have in my mind. Feeling the plane on my approach and landings Im most excited to learn. Does anyone else have more hours in "throttle" handle airplanes or is it just me. lol. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hi Jenny,
Be sure to join ABS if you haven't already.

Then go on the web site and download the POH for your model in the PDF format.

Then start taking the ground school that's also there.

Free to all ABS Members.

Congrats on your C33.

Welcome Jenny, and congrats! They’re called “vernier” controls and you’ll get used to them quickly. I’m a bit biased, but I think you’ll find they’re easier to use because they allow for more fine tuning of control positions.

Greg has given you great advice. Definitely join ABS, take the free-to-members ground school, and then schedule a flight with a BPPP instructor to really learn the fine points of flying a Deb. You’ll love it!

Also… buy a copy of John Eckalbar’s book “Flying the Beech Bonanza.” It’s a wonderful resource to have.

Welcome! My first Beechcraft experience was a test flight in a 1960 Model 33, before they were called Debonair, flying out of the Compton, California airport.

Nice looking Deb. Regardless of your flight experience I highly recommend transition training from either BPPP (ABS) or BPT (private spin-off of BPPP). Also if you're not already a member, joining the ABS (bonanza.org) now would be a really good idea. They have a lot to offer any Beech owner, but especially someone with a new to them Bonanza.

There are more Debonair fans here than Skipper fans?
