Hi all,
Please excuse my intrusion on the land of all things Beech! I own a 1973 Cessna 310Q. But it has the Bearcat STC and IO-550s NAs on her. So I hope to glean some operating advice and tidbits from the educated/experienced here. My first excursion into the world of General Aviation and airplane ownership...so I have lots to learn.

Scott. :woot:

that's a heck of a first airplane, how long have you owned it ?

first thing I'd do on the 310 is find out when the nose gear bellcrank was last examined, then I'd have a look for myself.

That and look very close at your rear spar cap angles with the flaps lowered and at the rear spar cap angles on the vertical fin in the rudder well also. Make sure they are clean and well treated for corrosion. They have a tendency to get inter-granular corrosion in those areas. Same for your aluminum engine mount rails where they pass through the stainless firewall. Should remove the sealer, inspect, that and and reseal. Great airplane!

Thanks all, I got her around the 1st of Feb. I’ve put about 50 hours on her since then. My first annual is due at the end of August!! Thanks for the maint inspection tips, much appreciated. My right engine is blowing a bit of oil out the breather and that’s the engine that had the no 2 cylinder replaced before I purchased. I suspect something is not seated correctly. Other than that I’ve had no issues with her. Dang old 400A auto pilot is a bit unreliable so that’s on the upgrade list at some point. Both engines are at TBO so the way I look at it is every hour I get flying is free chicken!!

Heck of a first plane. Is the rest of your time on Boeings or something?

Depending on where you're living, I might have some other 310 owners to hook you up with.

There is a very good twin Cessna shop at the Cherokee County airport.

Welcome! The very first GA airplane I flew in was a 310G. Nice bird!

I have to say that the 310 with the IO550s is a beast. The safety factor of having the extra power if ever I found myself single engine is worth the extra effort I think. My first upgrade will be a JPI 790 so I can run them a bit more efficiently.

Owned an R model for 25 years and a P model for 14. The R with 550’s is the best 310 out there. Put over 5000 hours on it. Join the twin Cessna Flyer organization and go to TAS Aviation in Defiance Ohio if you are anywhere close for the most knowledgeable maintenance available

As it turns out I may be moving to CA! Any suggestions on potential places to keep a twin around the Riverside CA area? The perfect place would be a hanger with an apartment attached...my goodness housing is expensive out there...along with most everything else.

2.5 hour commute to Riverside puts it a bit too far outside the daily drive envelope but I like the way you think! Thanks!
