Aircraft: Bonanza A36
Hello all,
I am Wesley Schreiber. I’ve been a pilot nearly all of my adult life. Private rating in 1975, Navy Pilot and then Airline Pilot for more than 33 years. In retirement, I wanted to return to my roots and the flying that inspired me. I’ve been flying and instructing in single engine planes for the last couple of years. Much of my flying lately has been in Germany. That also adds a twist.

I recently decided to “take the plunge” and become an owner. I will be partnering with another retired airline pilot on his A36. This is a really nice aircraft and he has maintained it well. Between the two of us, we hope to keep it exercised as much as it deserves.

Being new to this forum, I find that navigating and posting here is more challenging than a single engine approach to minimums with a missed approach in mountains.

Welcome Wes, to both Beechtalk and to Beech ownership. You could do a lot worse than an A36, that’s for sure. Hopefully with a little practice the challenge factor will come down a tad.

Just a suggestion:

Even though you're obviously well experienced it would probably be worth your time and money to participate in BPT or BPPP initial Bonanza training. Not only would you learn several non obvious aspects of Bonanza flying, you might also learn some useful tidbits WRT flying in the single pilot GA world today. It's a lot different than part 121 or military flying in some respects and definitely has changed significantly since you were flying as a private pilot 30 years ago.

Keep your eyes open in the pattern. Lots of folks are not as experienced as you and some idiots still exist even in aviation.
