I was in the same spot a year or so ago. If you haven't done so already, join the American Bonanza Society (ABS).

There is a ton of good advice on this forum and a bunch of people that will help you with your decision, and purchase.

I came out of GA to the airlines, and when I came back to GA I couldn't believe how much had changed. I had become dependent on dispatchers figuring everything out for me.

Even if the insurance doesn't require it, I would highly recommend going through the ABS BPPP program when you get your airplane. Do the 4 hour flight instruction "Best" program. You will be glad you did.

Welcome Shane. I was in the same position two years ago. After a long time away from GA between military and airline flying, I ended up with an A36. Definitely join ABS & ask lots of questions here. As mentioned above, do the BPPP initial training with an instructor and consider doing it annually, kind of like recurrent training at the airline. Lots of good info here and at ABS.
