As the topic says, G'day & g'evening from down under.

I'm the builder of an RV-9A, but as is somewhat typical in the RV world, two became four and the missus has refused permission to build a -10 (she reckons I had that opportunity and didn't take it), so I'm hunting for a 4-seater, with a Bonanza or Debonair fairly high on my shortlist.

There's not many better sources of info for individual aircraft than specific FB groups or forums these days, so I made the somewhat sensible decision to signup to BT to further my knowledge of the series, above and beyond what Larry Ball penned, learn about any problems owners seem to be having, and see how well comfortable they are for tall pilots, (ie, the 35-B33's moving the seat rails inboard for more shoulder room)

The defined mission is 4 x 200lb adults, 50lbs of baggage & 6.0Hrs endurance plus reserves at 140-150KTAS, plus shorter range, higher speed flights. The RV cruises at 140KTAS at altitude and I refuse to go backwards in performance! This kind of puts us in tip-tanked Debonair or Bonanza territory or a tip-tanked Comanche, of which I have a lead on one as well (but am waiting to hear if the owner will agree to sell). We live adjacent to the airport and have our own hangar & private taxiway access to a 4,500' sealed runway so grass or STOL ops, while nice to have, aren't strictly necessary.

Welcome!

If you want an answer from a bonanza site:
A36 with tips.
That 6 hr range and TO weight will limit your scope. Have you included twins in your list?

So, carry 850 lbs 800-900 miles? That's a tough mission without a fuel stop.

As Scott said, older airplane (lighter) with tip tanks and a gross weight increase STC is about the only way you're gonna pull that off.

More importantly, how did you find 4 people with 6 hours of bladder endurance?

 That's the family. We routinely drive from Sydney-Gold Coast to visit the theme parks, which is about 9.0 hours. On the trip north, we stay overnight about 1/2-3/4 the way there to break it up, but on the trip home, it's more like drive 90 minutes, have dinner, then 7-8 hours non-stop home overnight, while the missus & kids sleep. So much less stressful for me! ;) I did a 4.8 flight home from SA after checking out that Twin Co and didn't mind it at all.

There's been a tip-tanked 35-B33 advertised down here for a while, and when I finally got the broker to send me through the W+B data, she'll go close to doing it both ways, with a minor headwind. Her BEW was 1,839lbs and 77.73", and when you plug those details into the Bonanza Performance app, she'll carry 4 x 200, 60Lbs of baggage and full tanks (84USG) and give 7.0 hours at 140KTAS with a 30min reserve. Apparently...

But - and there's always a 'but' - I've seen some reports about Bonanza's not being that great for tall pilots - I'm 6'5 so I've been going through the old posts here and at PoA to find out what the upper limit for comfort seems to be.
