Hello All....
New Member, A&P since 1982. Worked General aviation first 4 years then moved to the airlines. United Airlines for 35 years, retired 6 months ago. Now back to the fun of smaller stuff. I reside in Toledo, WA. (not D.C. the other Washington) Which is halfway between Seattle and Portland.
last month purchased a 1952 Bonanza C35. Taking lessons in it now. Was hangered but only flew 3 hours last several years. I have almost no Beech A&P experience. Learning a lot. Doing a lot of catch-up maintenance from nonuse, then have to get an ADS-B into it.
Previous plane was a '46 Luscombe 8E. Quite a jump. Was a little nervous at first about that, but found the transition seems to be going very well. Even had my first in flight problem 2 days ago (no better time to have a problem then with a CFI sitting next to you). Gear only retracted halfway. Gear came back down and locked but very slow. Found logbook entry shows the motor installed 1967, 3500 hours ago. The grime on it looks like that was the last time it was touched. plane got its money's worth from that motor.
Looking forward to being an active member of this forum. Other forums I am active on is TDIclub for my little VW diesel. I enjoy letting experience I have help others just like others sure have helped me when I run into problems.
well this post is longwinded enough for now. Thank you all for having this platform available to me. Rory Shannon
