Aircraft: Bonanza V35B RC
Good afternoon all,

My name is Brad, not a Beechcraft owner or pilot, but I do build and fly model airplanes. I have a 1/5 scale Bonanza V35B kit I am looking to build in the near future (hopefully starting it this winter).

My goals for the aircraft are to have it competition quality at the end, with as much scale detail as I can get. In order to do this, I am need of a specimen to model from. I need to find a full size (preferably somewhere in New England, USA - I live in Maine) to take measurements and detailed pictures of (Likely a good day of documentation).

I am also in search of a reliable source of 3-View drawings/blueprints, preferably with dimensions, not sure if anyone knows a good place to source these? The best I have right now is a shop manual revised in the mid 90's that has rough dimensions for the entire 35 lineup, given the amount of variability and mods these birds have had, I am unsure of the accuracy of these drawings.

I am eager to hear any thoughts you folks may have.

Best regards,
Brad

Where did you get the kit, if you don't mind my asking. Sounds like a fun project.

Hey Chuck, kit is a Top Flite kit, the manufacturer is no longer in business unfortunately. The kit has been in my family for at least 10 years, so I am not sure where it was originally picked up.

Pictures when you're done.

What kind of engine are you going to use?

1/5 is pretty good size...

Pictures after completion with the full size as a backdrop would be awesome.

I am planning on using a Saito FA100T. It’s a twin nitromethane 4-stroke engine. It’s dimensions are near perfect to fit completely inside the cowl and should provide a nice sound. It should have enough power to fly in a scale like manner.

1/5 scale is about 81” wingspan, there are a set of plans for a 27% or close to 1/4 scale, however, I already have the 1/5 scale kit, and I think it’ll prove to be more of a challenge with some of the finer detail.

Best, Brad
