Hello everyone! My name is Megan, I am a professional pilot based out of Southern California. I am interested in purchasing a Bonanza and was told to join this forum by some fellow pilots. Any advice would help greatly. I am currently looking at E35's and V35's, but am hesitant with the magnesium tail problems/solutions. This would be the first airplane I've owned and want to make sure I am thoroughly informed about my future purchase. Being that the airplane would be hangared in SoCal, weather isn't much of an issue like it may be for some other Bo's that encounter problematic weather that could lead to potential damage. Thanks and hope to see some of you at OSH2021 assuming it holds with covid

Welcome aboard!
+1 on joining the ABS. The training was well worth it.
Not sure how long it has been since you've flown a "little" airplane, but I definitely struggled with single pilot IFR, especially in an analog cockpit. I had been flying a crewed aircraft with lots of cool doodads to make things easy, getting in my F33A was kind of a shock. It took a fair amount of hours to get my skills and confidence up.
Good luck with your search.

You may want to PM Susan Delgado and Anne Palotas. Both are in California and are both Bonanza owners. Thank you, Greg - I will join now!

Good luck with your search. Thanks Mark! I still instruct so am fairly comfortable in small airplanes but haven't flown a Bonanza in a very long time. Hoping to fly my friend's E35 this week and feel out the controls and panel. Thanks for the advice!

Hi Megan, Welcome! What do you fly for work? And, if you don’t mind me asking... how and when did you get interested in aviation? I wish my daughter would fly, she loves to go flying, but has only had a casual interest in getting a PPL. I have three kids and only the youngest says he want to become a pilot, he’s now 16 and does nothing but play video games, so I am slowly losing hope.

That is good, there aren't enough of us in this line of work that stay active in general aviation.

first question contemplating your first light plane purchase - what do you want to do with it ? How much stuff, how far, how often, in what weather? Buying too much plane is almost as big a problem as buying too little.
