Hello everyone, I’m a corporate pilot in Atlanta. Haven’t flown a piston regularly in over 30 yrs and am in the market for a single. My kids are out of college and it’s time. Recently got to try out a Cirrus SR22, Mooney 20J, and a vintage V-tail. Initially was leaning toward Mooney because of its speed and efficiency, but I felt cramped in the plane. I’m a little short and a little wide. It flew nice, but didn’t get chance to land it. I liked the SR22 because it had glass (which I’m used to) and it flew nice as well and it’s modern. I got to land it, which of course was scary after 30 yrs not doing that. And lastly I got to fly the 35 just the other day. All of these planes I flew from the right seat and that felt awkward as well. I thought the Bo was the most pleasant flying of these and actually did 3 ldgs in it. I thought they were ugly as well but was told pretty good from not ever flying one. It was a bit choppy and I did notice a little of the tail wag talked about. So, my mission will be mostly SE, so 300NM. But my son lives in CO and of course I would like to do that a couple times a year maybe. And an occasional trip to MSP area. I don’t think I need to carry a large load most of the time. I’m a little hesitant on older airplanes but I just might be misguided. I don’t want a turbo at this time. Not sure if I need a/c or TKS. I’m open to any suggestions. I like all the Bo models. I would prefer glass but I’m sure it is not necessary.

Yea, I guess a budget would help. I’m thinking in the 150K range. I would also consider a partnership with one other person. There’s probably discussions about that on here I would imagine; pros/cons. Oh, and I forgot the most important thing.....a hangar. They seem to be a rare commodity in the Atlanta area. I’m on 8 yr waiting lists at multiple airports. I prefer NW of Atlanta.

I know it's heresy here, but I'll plug the SR22 over the Bo. I've had both. Would take either, but prefer the Cirrus. Probably around 100 hrs a year. Would you take a SR20 over a Bo or only if it was a SR22

I would prefer the Bo to a SR20. I think a 33 bo or later model 35 would fit the mission and budget well.

Welcome from Buford, GA! My wife and I just found ourselves a nice '69 E33 Debonair (straight tail Bonanza) earlier this year and have enjoyed it immensely. We're based at LZU. Send me a PM, I'll be glad to share what I can of the experience.
Best Regards, Marshall
