Howdy, folks.

I'm a life-long aviation enthusiast who doesn't have a license (yet). Ever since an Elementary School trip that took us to the local airport for a flight on a light aircraft, I've wanted to fly. Sadly, I just never had the time or resources to do it.

But now, in my 50s, I'm once again giving it some serious consideration and have been seeking out on-line resources to get familiar with the methods for getting licensed, medicals, for renting or purchasing aircraft, etc.

And that led me to BeechTalk, since a number of the YouTube aviators I follow have referenced it as a good resource for aspiring, training, and experienced pilots.

I will probably just be a fly on the wall for a while, as I absorb. But if/when I do take the plunge, I think this place will be a great resource for questions and answers.

Take it easy and Happy New Year!

Hey Brent, welcome!!

None of us are getting any younger. And at this age, THIS is the opportunity to make dreams happen.

Good luck!

Welcome, Brent, and Happy New Year!

While I was around GA a lot since my early 20's, I didn't get in the left seat until I was 50+. There is all the normal stuff that life sends our way (family, career/work, yada yada) and it can be hard to fit flight training in with everything else. Once i started, there was one aspect that really surprised me: learning and focusing on something complete new, how steep the learning curve was, and how to adapt when I wasn't getting something.

Without question, flying airplanes is a wonderful thing. But learning something completely new and becoming good at it, something that uses an agile brain and hand/eye/gut coordination, all in "middle age" is another aspect that is equally rewarding!

Have fun!

Welcome to BeechTalk Brent!

Lotta good fields is your area (Lincoln, Cameron Park, SacExec) with a number of Beech enthusiasts and aviators nearby.

I can only second Tim's comments, as they parallel my own. And I'm sure we are not alone. :peace:

Keep us posted on your progress.
