Hello! I'm a ~170 hr instrument pilot, got my PPL last year and I'm hoping to get my CPL within the next few months. My father and I just got ourselves a 1979 F33A Bonanza, I've only flown it for about a dozen hours, mostly to figure out where exactly it needs work done. It's in the mechanic's shop right now being looked at for a pretty strong right roll tendency and an INOP electric trim switch. The CHTs also run pretty warm (especially by BeechTalk standards, from what I've seen people say on here!), so we'll see what we can do about that, too.

We already knew we needed to upgrade the avionics, at the very least to be ADSB-out compliant, so we have an appointment with the avionics shop in December (cutting it close). It already has a 530W which I'm pleased with, but the 2nd NAV/COM is extremely old (possibly original?) and doesn't work at all, so it needs to be replaced. I'm thinking about getting a transponder that has Bluetooth or Wifi for ADSB info, but the one currently in there is a garmin series that I think can be upgraded for ADSB-out compliance, so I might just go with a portable ADSB-in solution.. It has a nice engine monitor, so the NAV/COM and transponder are really the only things it really *needs* at the moment. I'm still thinking about putting a couple G5's in anyway, because that's hard to resist. I'm also trying to decide what to do with the old weather radar that's placed right in the middle of the panel. It's ugly, and it doesn't seem to work very well (doesn't seem to show anything within 5 degrees or so of straight ahead?), so I might just yank the thing out entirely.

Anyway, after all that I realized I don't even have a picture of the plane (for shame, what kind of pilot am I?), so here's a nice photo I took on a cross country a couple weeks ago instead!

Welcome to BT and congratulations! The 33 series are great airplanes and it will be a great aircraft to get your CPL.

Seems you’ve already figured out what a great resource BT is. We’d love to see some more pictures of your bird!

I'll remember to post one as soon as I get a chance. The paint is showing its age, but it still looks nice with a theme of white/blue/gold.
