Good morning 99,
I am a AMEL ATP, ASEL CFI, and I'm getting close to wrapping up my Commercial ASES in a SeaRey, and previously I flew F/A-18E's in the Navy. My previous Beechcraft experience other than a few hops as a King Air FO was going through Naval Aviator Primary flight training (VT-27 World Famous Boomers) in one of the last classes to Fly T-34C Turbo Mentors. As beat as those planes were, and as miserable as Corpus Christi was in the summer, I enjoyed the control harmony and predictable flying traits.
I just got checked out in Protocom Aviation's Debonair 35-C33 yesterday and I have heard this is the place to come to learn how to get the most utility out of that beauty. I am excited to use the IO-550 and tip tanks on some nice long XC's with the family in the near future.

Join ABS and take advantage of their online training materials.

Attend a BPPP clinic nearby (with or without the airplane, there is value either way)

If you can get your hands on Eckalbars "Flying the Beech Bonanza" it covers many topics. Lots of info here on running the IO550 here, use search. Make sure you understand the W&B, the 33s can take off in envelope and with fuel burn end up out of envelope.

Between the online BPPP, the POH and Eckalbar, you should have a good background. The tip tanks may need some extra study. Depending on type, you need to have room in the mains before transferring the tip fuel. Also understand how W&B changes with the movement of fuel.

Welcome to BT!
yeah,m a lot of Beech information here. Usually you can find a lot out using the search function. And of even harder questions, just ask. It is amazing how fast you can get some great answers.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I found a good CG and performance calculator and have been playing around with different loads for this aircraft, since it has the 550 I won't have too much trouble keeping it in the range, but lots staying under gross, even with the 3202 STC.
