Hello all... Commercial/ IFR Pilot. I'm thinking about buying my first plane. I'm looking at a 1977 A36 but we will see. I thought I would jump on here to see what I could learn and see if I can find some idea of costs for conversions. I don't like that the co-pilot side only has rudder pedals and not toe breaks. Plus I like the plane but not excited about the dual yoke design. I like the two separate individual yokes.... that's not a big deal but a preference. The breaks could be a deal breaker. I look forward to chatting in the forums.
Thanks!
Bill - there are plenty of 36s with toe brakes on both sides. There are conversion kits, but it costs quite a few bucks to get it down and it is labor intensive.
As far as the yokes, might I suggest you look into the throw-over yokes. I really opens of the cockpit. Later model A36s do not allow for this since their yokes are what I refer to as "piper style."
Since you are in MD, feel free to PM me. I'd be happy to show you around the ESN and the Bonanza (I have a 35) and some other 36s on our field so you can get a better feel of what's out there.
Good luck and have fun with your search.
