Hello T-Bone lovers,
My name is Allen McInnish. I am an A&P mechanic. Currently, I own a Piper Colt based at Skylark Air Park (7B6), in Broadbrook, CT. Our airfield is due east of Bradley Airport. I have admired the Twin Bonanza from first sight at the airfield near Keystone Heights, FL. When I walked up the airstair door and saw the amount of space, with a center isle to the flightdeck, I was smitten.
I have worked on aircraft since I was 12 years old on ex-Army Stearmans. When I served 23+ years in Naval Aviation, my joy and job was working on everything from TF-9J jets and DC-3's fabric covered elevators to the mighty F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet - at sea for >9years of my Naval career, on shore bases and as a civilian Instructor of Power Plants and Related systems of the F/A-18 Super Hornet.
My focus now is to know the Twin Bonanza in totality. To maintain, own and fly my family in our own Twin Bo, is the dream. I have much training and certificates to earn before that dream can become a reality. Speaking of reality: my Colt's insurance company representative stated, "find a different multi-engine airplane". Further, she said, "the insurance underwriters really do not like to insure the Queen Air.
I look forward to meeting and working with owners and mechanics, alike.

Blue skies and tailwinds to all,
Allen "Chief Mac" McInnish

Hi Allen and welcome to BT!
Make a deal with the insurance company; they can tell you what to buy when they are paying.

Step one, make sure they understand it's not a Queen Air.

When I was getting quotes, nobody balked at it, but I also had a butt ton of multi turboprop and King Air time.

John and Casey,

Thanks for your input. My flying has always been with the Navy - if it had more than two seats - put me in! Civilian flying spans from Stearmans, PA-12's, Cessna, many Piper's, including a couple of straight Seneca's, my Colt and numerous others.
Yes, I did not even mention the Queen Air, the representative added that bit of warning spontaneously. When the time comes, I will query the T-bone flyer about insurers.
I had a partner who wanted to restore his Colt, I advised him against that idea but, ultimately I wound up owning the Colt. So, as it turned out, I restored a plane which my wife could get her PPL. Life is a dirty trick sometimes and it showed up as two surgeries she suffered through which, removed the prospect of her passing a flight physical.
The Colt is open for annual. Upon completion, I will be selling it for something that has more than two seats. Our Family has grown to three - not enough seats to take everyone.
Thanks again,
Allen
