Hi all, Just wanted to drop in and say hello. I registered here when I was researching something a little while ago and figured I'd introduce myself. Coincidentally I've got history in a Beech Sundowner I saw on this site for sale, N6715D. My dad owned it from 2009-2013 and I logged some time in it sporadically whenever I had a chance, this was before I was serious about finishing my license, unfortunately, lol Hindsight is 20/20; had I just been a little more serious about it back then, that Sundowner would probably be mine today, doubly sad because my dad was an active CFII back then (no longer due to med, the hope is he gets that back before too long and gets current again). I could've/should've taken advantage of saving a bit of $$ that I eventually forked out to finish my PPL somewhere else and then deciding to purchase an airplane now that I'm a little older and more able. Circumstances were different back then though, so, it is what it is. Anyhow, the wife and I now own a 1981 Piper Archer II we picked up in May 2018, after a woefully long search (our first plane purchase, C-150, was destroyed by a storm while in a hangar nearly a year ago, after only two weeks of ownership! ), and, I'm working on time building and getting to fly with Dad again and learn more from him. So that's good! I've included some old pics of the Beech, Cessna, and our current Archer. Nice to meet y'all!

Thanks for welcome everyone! Also thanks for the compliments on the Archer. Username Protected wrote: Welcome to BT Jake, the archer looks great, did you just get it painted? The previous owner had it re-painted in 1996. I've washed it a couple times since I bought it and did some interior detailing...it's not perfect, but, it cleans up pretty decent and we've got some good ramp compliments! It was/is hangared and taken care of, it shows! I plan to give it a clay bar and wax sometime in the late fall when it's nice and cool out.

Nice looking Piper. Bet she's a very stable flyer.
Where are you located in Mo? I'm in H88 time to time...
Jerry Thanks! Definitely a stable plane, very smooth and comfortable, flies great hands off. Similar to the Sundowner's stability - that plane flew real nice, I really enjoyed the time I had in that. I have come to appreciate and miss the two doors that Sundowner had, and it was a little more roomy it seems. Though the Archer is a wee faster and a little less fuel burn, so I can appreciate the trade-off. Home base is FTT in Fulton. I did some of my training at JEF (we live in Jefferson City), and finished at SET. I've never been to Fredericktown -- looks like it's a nice little town, may have to make H88 a $100 hamburger stop!

Username Protected wrote: Jake, Welcome to BeechTalk, thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself. Great looking Archer, I have a few hours in a rental Archer from St. Charles Flying Service at KSET. In fact used that airplane to go to Texas to see and purchase my first V-tail. I get over to KJEF occasionally to have lunch at Nick’s Restuarant. I am based out of KSUS with my V-35A
Andy Thanks for the welcome! I don't remember an Archer there (at least with SCFS) from my time finishing my PPL, but, I probably just didn't see it around--would've loved to get time in one back then...wonder if they still have it? I finished with SCFS their 150's after some time at JCFS with their Warriors. The Archer just feels like a big Warrior. SUS is nice, been there before with my dad...test flew a 150 with a real nice guy over there last year, didn't work out on the purchase though...my dad was an independent instructor out there in the early 90's with a partner...Red Baron Flight Service is what their business was called during it's short tenure before the flood of '93 wiped it out. p/s Nick's restaurant is great 'down-home' food!
