Hello everyone at BeechTalk. My son, against my better judgement, wants to become a pilot. Honestly I thought I had him talked out of it. He was in university here in Calgary, and if you ask him, he'll tell you he's a bit of a big deal on the football team. After a few concussions he is done with football, and apparently there's no other reason to be in university. I've spent the last 43 years as a commercial pilot and the last 20 years flying Boeings. I need an aircraft with a large enough cabin to fit that large hairy kid of mine and I'm thinking the Sundowner would be ideal machine for a lot of the training he will be doing. So as yet, I don't have an airplane but I'm hoping to find something that my be available here. Thanks in advance, and sorry for prattling on. Cheers

Searched and found several Sundowners, I was a day late and a dollar short on 4 of them. Being in Canada, I must add roughly 45-50 % of the asking price to account for the exchange, tax, and random fees. Talked to a guy at a local field about renting his Seirra, I suggested he sell it to me. He thought about it for a few days and I'm now the proud owner of a 1980 C24R Sierra.
The machine was 35 minutes from my house. Weird how things work out. My son and his flying friend are planning their grand adventure for late October. If you see C-GVKE between Calgary and somewhere in the Bahamas, Florida, and the gulf coast blundering about, that will be the "BEECH BOYS". See what I did there? Tell them to get home, their mothers are worried, and their dads are jealous.

Thanks Jeff. I might do that. I've convinced myself the shock discs need changing, and theres a definite lack of knowledge regarding this procedure in my area.
