Greetings all,

Guy Maher saying hello as a new forum member. I’ve been hearing a lot of great things about this forum for a long time but for whatever reason just never jumped on. Maybe one reason is I’m heavily entrenched in “Brand C” - owning a 310Q and very active in the Cardinal community, Twin Cessna Flyers, and the Cessna Pilot’s Association. [I also have some pretty historical ties to the other Brand C – Commander].

I’m based in Statesville, NC [KSVH] and looking forward to communicating and learning with you guys and gals. What Beech experience I do have is in the V35 that the man who taught me how to fly owned. I’ve enjoyed some F33 time, as well, and really enjoyed regularly flying a Duchess back in the late 80’s. But that all pales in comparison to you folks. So, I don’t mind sitting more towards the back of the room and letting those of you grounded in Beech be up front and center. I’m sure it will be a fun and educational journey.

Guy

Guy, welcome to BT. Did you have a single or twin Commander? Actually, I like them all myself.

Welcome aboard Guy!
We are , mostly, civil towards other brand members.
Actually, many BT members currently own other brands, or have owned other brands.
Any and all pilots welcome here!

John,

I flew them all when I worked for Rockwell Commander in the late 70's to mid 1980. I've also personally owned one 114A and three 112TC-A's. Recently gave a new owner 10 hours of transition training in a 114TC. As you, I like them all.

Guy

Welcome Guy! I have read your posts on the other site.
I read BT daily and after more than 5K hours, I am constantly learning from this thread!
BTW, do you remember the Rockwell Commander 700? We have one of the few flying examples. :peace:

Welcome Guy!

While I appreciate your humility, the BT crowd deserves to know more:

Guy is a standout citizen in the Twin Cessna group. He has owned and superbly upgraded several Cessna 310s. Guy is generous in sharing his extensive knowledge. Further, Guy has a consulting/instructing business. He has helped many buy, sell, and transition into twin Cessnas.

We are lucky to have Guy onboard BT.

I hope it wasn't the one (bird nesting zone) out there on the ramp at SVH....
( actually it would be great if it was saved)
I hated the loss of that 56 310 in Jones fire... Pretty plane.
I flew out of Statesville for several years... retired now, near the Kids/ Grandkids in California.

The bird sanctuary Commander is a 112TC-A, and still there. The plane I helped my client with is a beautiful 98 114TC.

That fire was indeed painful. My fully restored 1956 310 and 4 other planes gone for good. Everyone rallied around Jones and he was back in business in less than two weeks. And one of his first projects was my replacement 310.

Speaking of fires, how’s it going for you in Cali?

We are ok in Chico, CA. Fires are north and southwest, just smokey here. Fires get out of control here much easier than in the Humid east. Lots of fire tankers flying from Chico.
