Hello everyone,
My name is Marcus and I’m currently a very low time student pilot in Fayetteville NC.
I’ve always been interested in aviation but only very recently started working towards my PPL. I’m a retired
soldier and while my wife and I live in NC, three of our four grandkids live in Nashville TN. 10 hour drive. And our aging parents (and in my case, grandparents) live in Maryland, a six hour drive with no traffic, while her folks live in Trenton GA, seven hours if Atlanta traffic doesn’t kill you.
I’ve got a retired paratrooper’s back, so shortening that those trips is worth it!
I had to pause my training for over a year now: my last year in the Army consisted of a right ankle reconstruction AND a right shoulder reconstruction, but I’m looking forward to getting back into my training.
Anyway, I also look forward to associating and learning from the more experienced folks on this board.

Thank you all! I'm currently training out of K2GC, but KFAY is closer to home and work, and they've got hangars available, so that will probably end up being our home base. My expected mission will be 394nm from KFAY to KJWN, Nashville with one or two( usually one) passengers. I dream of owning a V35

There's a great flying club with several good trainers and instructors plus all the hangar talk you could ever want.

AIRBORNE, Marcus!!! Thank you for your service and sacrifice. My son is an Airborne Ranger qualified infantry officer, currently serving in DC. And you probably just moved out of my airplane sometime during your career. Of course, I enjoyed staying IN the airplane. Good luck on your training. And enjoy the BT community!
