Hi Everyone -

My name is Zack. This week my husband and I purchased our first airplane!!! A 1952 Bonanza (C35). I had the great fun of flying it back with a friend (who is also a great mechanic) ... from Texas through Ohio and on to Philadelphia. Woo Hoo ... That was terrific fun! I can't wait to start reading all the interesting and informative posts on this forum.

Zack

I did school out in Philly. I couldn't afford to fly (money or time), but would drive out to Wings anytime I could to study... just sit in the parking lot and read... and every so often get to watch a plane take off and land.
I will fly out there some day just to get to actually put KLOM in my log book! I have spend enough time there!

Wings field is where we are hangaring "Big Boy" ... Wings (KLOM) is a nice active field with a very active community ... you should totally fly up to put KLOM in your log book.

Congrats, Zack. It was a pleasure helping you find your new bonanza and get it home. I hope you guys have many happy hours zipping around in your new Bo.

If anyone has a recommendation for a somewhat local shop that knows the E series bonanzas, I'm sure Zack would be appreciative. Also, at some point in the near future, his 215 prop is going to need to go in for an inspection and lubrication - are there any prop shops around with 215 experience?

Brad

Give Sensenich Propellor in Lancaster (KLNS) a call. They may do it or refer you elsewhere.

Hi Zach,
I'm also based at Wings. I think I saw your beautiful Bo on the ramp there yesterday. I can recommend a couple of shops for your Bonanza.

Dan Towery. He's at Delaware Airpark, 33N. He's been working on Bonanzas for 40 years and he owns a C35. He may have retired - not sure about that. 302-674-4242

Phil Babb. He's at Penn Ridge. 215-258-0777. We've been using Phil for our Bo.

Hey Dave -

Yea - "Big boy" is out on the ramp waiting for a "parking space". There are actually two Bonanzas on the ramp at the moment - a Blue one and a White One - I'm the white one ...

Where are you on the field? I'll stop by and say hi the next time I'm there (I'm there a lot just to look at my new plane ;) I come up with lots of "excuses" and "reasons" why I have to drive over ... hehehe

Zack

Thanks for all the tips everyone!!! Being a new plane owner I'm kinda nervous with all of the maintenance stuff that, when I was a renter, was taken care of for me.

Zack,

I am in the area also, based KPTW. I know Dave Harnitcheck well. We should all get together to talk Bonanzas.

Welcome to the club.

Zack - don't be nervous, just be willing to invest the time to learn.

These are fairly complex airplanes.

They are not hard to maintain, you just need to know for what to look, know what to maintain, how to do it or who to call to get it done.

I highly recommend Colvin's Clinic.

https://www.amazon.com/Colvins-clinic-D ... g=btalk-20

If you don't have a copy, PM me. I have an extra copy and would be happy to send you one.

I have always felt that part of the joy of owning these airplanes is discovering all that they are.

It's a journey.

Have fun!

Good advise - Colvin's Clinic was bedtime reading on our way home with the Bo. :D

Thanks for all the references for maintenance - this is why BeechTalk is the best! I'll continue to help where I can, but I'm several hundred miles away, so local support is required.

Hey Zack, Great meeting you on the ramp at LOM yesterday. Looks like we have around 5 or perhaps 6 Bo's on the field now.
