Hi everyone, my name is Cristian Caicedo and I am originally from Ecuador. I am an ATPL pilot lucky enough to be flying as a captain on the B-777 for a living, and I tell you, it is the best job on earth. I am based in Dubai, UAE and I fly for the biggest B-777 and A-380 operator in the world.
I am joining this forum because I have always been a "fan" of the V-tail and my dream is to own my very own V-tail one day, so I guess this was a logical first step towards that end.
Fun fact is that I have never even been in a V-tail before. Actually I don't know for sure what is it, but I love the plane. I keep my passion alive for general aviation by flying a rented C-172 every time I have a layover in USA. This sunday for example I will be in Chicago area so I will be flying!!!
Looking forward to learn as much as I can, and if I can contribute a little bit as well, that will be awesome.

Welcome to BT, Cristian. If you let BT know when you're available in the USA, I'd bet you can find a ride in a Bonanza...

Hi Cristian,
Welcome to Beech Talk where you will find LOTS of information regarding our beloved Beechcraft products.
You mentioned you fly for a locally based airline with the largest B777 and A380 fleet but can you share some insight on this report. ************************************************************************************ How bad is Emirates’ pilot shortage? Media reports suggest that Emirates will be parking 46 planes over the coming months:
Emirates will park 11 Boeing 777s and 1 Airbus A380 this month Emirates will park 14 Boeing 777s and six Airbus A380s in May Emirates will park 11 Boeing 777s and three Airbus A380s in June Altogether that represents 36 Boeing 777s and 10 Airbus A380s, which is about 18% of Emirates’ fleet (specifically 25% of their 777 fleet and about 10% of their A380 fleet). ************************************************************************************
If you ever divert to an airport near West Tennessee with a layover, give us a call and I will come pick you up for a $100 hamburger!!
Fly safe,
Rusty

Hi everyone and thanks for those replays, you already making me feel nice here. Hi Rusty, I will note that thanks and regarding your question, yes we are having some pilots shortage issues as well, I think it is a global problem nowadays, and yes today we have 14 B-777s and 7 A-380s parked, however at the same time we keep receiving brand new airplanes, actually today we received another B-777 and the list still shows we need to receive a total of 260 new airplanes in the next years, of course most of them will be to replace the older ones. In here we do not fly airplanes older than 20 years. I think the plan calls to retire the airplanes as soon as they hit 15 years. Thanks everybody and looking forward to be part of this great community.

Username Protected wrote: Do you plane to rent until retirement, then purchase? Hi John, I think a the time that is pretty much the plan. So far while flying the B-777 I have different layovers in USA so I do not have a specific place to have an airplane, and actually I rent all over USA thanks to https://www.openairplane.com/ which is an awesome service and ideal for my situation... with OpenAirplane I can rent in different places each time without having to do a checkout in every place I am in. So one checkout per year and everybody within their system accept that as valid, so that is what I am doing now...

Thanks a lot Jim, for your kind tour in your beautiful BO, I enjoyed it very much and can not thank you enough; I wish I could give you a tour of my plane as well, but that is pretty much impossible, so here it is, at least in picture... I am so looking forward to the day I can buy my very own Bonanza and realize my dream.. but in the meantime you are living my dream... happy landings... Attachment: IMG_2337.JPG Cristian
