I am looking for advice on buying a Bonanza A36. I would like opinions on performance, distance, number of passengers, etc.

IF you are completely unfamiliar with the -36 family.... start at the ABS website. https://www.bonanza.org/aircraft-index/browse-by-model/click on the model 36... model A36.... model G36. Larry Ball's book.... also has more info. I personally think of the -36's in three groups: 1. early ones -1968 through 1984. 2. later models 1985 until 200*? 3. G36's Pros and cons to all. I own a light weight load hauling 1976 model. I don't ever plan on moving to a later model. YYMV. Leldon

I would like opinions on performance, distance, number of passengers, etc. Use the "Search" function...upper right of the tool bar under the Baron on the BeechTalk banner. Enter A36. Read, read, and read again...lots there....

Typically it will be my wife and myself flying from Grand Rapids, Michigan to either platte, South Dakota or Miles City Montana. I am taking my private pilot lessens now and I want to continue to keep working and get to my IFR rating. The few people I have talked to said when you get your license start looking for a bonanza. I would like a go fast airplane that I can haul some weight around and that is what people are recommending. I really am not sure of my options, so if you guys don’t mind making some suggestions I would be all ears.
Thanks, Dave Powers

Thanks Dave - you buy what you want to buy, but that profile does not require an A36. Look at 33s and 35s too. Many updated 33s and 35s have enormous useful loads (by 36 standards), will cost less and go faster. I am a committed 35 (V-Tail) guy, so that's my bias.

How fast?
Howe much weight to haul around?
What range you want with what payload?
