Hello everyone, I’m a new member to the forum. I’m a professional pilot with ATP fixed wing and commercial rotor wing ratings along with some endorsements and type ratings. I just left the military a couple years ago and settled in beautiful Greenville, SC where we are working to move into an airpark community. It’s my desire to purchase an airplane in short order after the house and I’m leaning heavily towards a Beechcraft Bonanza but I’m taking a look at other aircraft as well. The current and future price of Avgas is weighing heavily on my decision. I’m looking forward to reading on a host of topics posted in this forum to help hone that decision. I previously owned a Piper Cherokee 140 and have had access to a number of different aircraft over the years. I’m 42 and started flying when I was 15 and grew up around the Whispering Pines airpark in Conyers, GA. It has always been my dream to live in an airpark with my own plane parked in the garage. Hopefully I’ll run into some of you in the local area!

Hey Jeff,

Welcome!! What agreat picture.....that little guy is absolutely enamored with his Dad...as well he should be! Thanks for your service!

Lots of really good information here ....the community unapologetically leans Beech but shows tolerance (and even  ) for other makes of aircraft.

What may surprise you with this community is the incredible depth of experience on all topics....including commodity markets, chemical makeup of fuels and oils, and all else. Using the search funtion, you will find threads " fuel prices will never be this low again" versus " oil market prices floor just fell out". Have fun ....and we love pics of airplanes!

Welcome Jeff!

I'm just down the road at CEU. This is definitely the site for all things Bonanza

Have you considered a Lancair LNC2? I routinely see 170 Kts on 5 or 6 GPH, depending upon altitude. I recently flew over your area from AVL to CRE (N Myrtle Beach) for lunch. 1+22 flight time and burned 9.8 gal. at 9,500'. Only two seats, though.

I'm located just a short trip away at KEQY (South Charlotte). Greenville downtown (KGMU) is a great spot and has the Runway Cafe on the field. It's right next to a very cool play area that kids love. Certainly check it out if you haven't already.

Hey John, I have considered the Lancair but I am 6’3” and the two Lancairs I have flown in were both a little tight. I like my large SUVs and elbow room. ;) I am open to your thoughts and opinions on the Lancairs.
