Hello all!

After stalking the forum for months I thought I would reach out and say hello from Wichita!

As the previous owner of a 1968 Cherokee 235, I could not be more thrilled to finally have purchased my dream plane...a 2013 G36 Bonanza. About 12 years ago I sold the Cherokee after earning my PPL and IFR ratings in it. At the time, I was busy with three young children and wasn't flying as much as I would like. I thought I would rent a retractable and build time but life got in the way.

Approaching my 50th birthday next month, I decided to make the jump back into the flying I have missed so much now raising 4 kids! My search led me to Neal Schwartz at Latitude Aviation after finding so much praise for him here on BT. Many years ago I spent more than a few hours riding right seat in my friend's A36 and have wanted one ever since. While the 235 was great for my needs at the time, I wanted more space and capabilities.

Neal was an amazing resource/buyer's agent/ and friend in my search which led me to N336S. The journey has been awesome so far and I can't wait for the good times to come. I had tip tanks installed and am training with a very knowledgeable Bonanza instructor/owner. Some things have come back quickly after years past but there is a lot to learn!

Anyway, I will attempt to attach some pictures. I want to thank the many awesome members of this forum who have served as an awesome resource in my search for my dream plane. And many thanks, again, to Neal whom I cannot praise enough for his professional and personal guidance!

Here we go... :D

Dave

What a beautiful plane!

Way to ease your way back into flying.

I hope we start hearing about all the wonderful adventures you're going to have in that traveling machine.

Welcome to BeechTalk! I'm not too far from you, only 45 minutes SouthWest in Harper. I may have to hit you up for a ride!

Dave,

Awesome looking aircraft! I had a quick question for you. Did you earn your PPL in an aircraft with a constant speed propeller? How was that experience?

Walter

Thank you all for the warm welcome and nice comments! It really is a beautiful plane and as the seller told me, we should be honored to be the “custodians” of these wonderful machines.

Walter...I started my training in a 172 but finished most of my PPL in the Cherokee with the constant speed propeller. It really was a non-issue. More importantly, I think it was easier flying in the same plane each time rather than whichever rental was available that day. You really get to know the idiosyncrasies of your plane and this, in many ways, makes the learning experience easier, in my opinion.

Now the speeds and complexities of the glass panel, retractable gear, etc in the Bonanza are a bit different than my old 235!

Hi David,

Where do you base your airplane? I’ve got a Debonair based at Stearman Field.

Nick,

I'm at Jabara...looked at Stearman but Jabara is just more convenient. I'm impressed by the growth at Stearman as I haven't been out there in years! Very nice!

David,
Awesome intro! Welcome to Beechtalk. I am so happy for you in your decision to get the Bonanza you've always wanted. I know that feeling too.
I wish other introductions will take your lead and attach great photos such as you have done. If you look at the intro thread there's a lot of entries without an attachment icon. Pics are always greatly appreciated. Nice job David!, thanks!

Wow...
That is a very pretty aircraft. And the interior is pristine.
Great paint scheme too.

What engine? Turbo or Turbo Norm?

Good luck with the training.
