Merry Christmas All

I am a fairly newly licensed PPL Here in Nova Scotia. I own a C172 that i purchased for my training and local flying. I’m currently adding hours and loving the flight experience since being licensed I have made it as far afield as Ontario and Quebec. My next trips will be to enter the USA for some New England experiences. Im thinking of upgrading to a Bonanza or perhaps a M20. I like the higher useful load of a larger airframe. Me,the wife, and two growing teenagers are a bit much for the ole 172. We have made some local flights but can’t carry anything close to full tanks I have over 200 hours this year and like the idea of a more comfortable capable and speedy long distance aircraft.

I signed up here to learn model ins and outs and to search for deals if anyone can help me out with advice and maybe some Canadian planes that may be for sale. I have learned lots from other model specific forms and like the friendly attitude of fellow pilots who are always willing to pass off good advice.

Thanks

Bruce Spears

Hi Bruce. Welcome to BT and congrats on your PPL. Have you done the night rating yet?

John.

Thanks yes i have. I waited untill the days got shorter this fall and completed it in November. I am glad i had over 150 hours before. It was actually harder than i expected. The hood flying was no problem. The night we first flew was a new moon period and dark as can be. I am half thinking about moving on to my commercial in the near future for the extra learning it would give me. My 172 is not IFR capable but if i got a more comlpex plane i would do my IFR.

Welcome to BT Bruce, it’s an easy move from a C172 to a Bonanza, did it 17 yrs ago, and never looked back, we travel quite a bit to the East coast, Diana and I are both from there, and we visit family a few times a year and love the scenery and laid back atmosphere.

If you do a search in the red box above, for members, you’ll find members near you.

It's all part of the hobby, if for no other reason.
