Welcome to BeechTalk, Carl! I hadn't heard of the issue with all post older than the join date being marked unread. Usually, marking all unread was caused by "thumbology" and was addressed by the addition of an "Are you sure?" popup. Likewise, I hadn't heard anyone ask how to mark everything as Unread. I did a little scrounging on the phpBB site and didn't find anything after a quick look. I'd suggest PMing Jeff Carneal, one of the two "Jeffs." (He and Jeff Snyder are the founders of BT.) It may take awhile to get a response. You might also post the question in the Back Talk forum - perhaps that is monitored more regularly.
