Hey Folks,

Just joined and I'm looking forward to finding lots of good information on the site.

I'm on the hunt for an M Bo or Deb. I know I'm asking for trouble but if you have an opinion one way or the other, I'm all ears!

I'm looking to fly VFR and plan on commuting to work. It's about a 80 mile round trip flight. I'm in the Bay Area so it'll cut the time in the car by about 2 hours a day. I'm also planning on flying to places I can fly fish and hike.

All in all, it's going to be an adventure

Look at the $50k io470 80smoh j35 on TAP

Pick a budget and look at anything io-470 in your range. Buy the first one that has been flown and maintained

Welcome, they are great planes and a 40 mile hop should go quickly. You did not cover your experience level but if you are new to Bonanzas, find an experienced instructor. Also joining ABS can be very useful and provides access to more information.

Greg,

How long is your commute driving?

If you really have a 40 mile one-way commute, the time savings between a Cessna 150 (25 min) and a Bo (15 min) will be eaten by the longer pre-flight/runup/etc)

have you considered a 150 for your commute and something like a 170 for your weekender?

Good example of my commute today

1:20 driving in, 2:45 coming home. I see accidents daily and today there were multiple on the way home that really messed things up.

As far as my background, I'm a glider pilot. Well at least I was way back. Kids finished up college and I recently started flying an Archer. My instructor owns a '54 Bo and it's a beauty.

I considered a Cherokee, Tiger, RV, and Long EZ. True I don't need all the power for the commute but wanted it for longer/higher trips. A Cherokee/Archer would fit the bill but they're almost as much as the Bo and Deb I'm looking at. Granted the operating costs would be much lower. Tiger's were great but cost about 50% more than any of the other options.

So long story and that's how I wound up on BT.
