My name is Darren Kerns. I own and fly an RV7 N599DT. Absolutely love it but sometimes having more room would be nice. This is what my wife tells me all the time.
I really like the Debonair's. A friend of mine at KFRH has a 1969 G33 Debonair. Has the 260 hp. Very nice airplane.
The question I am proposing is can I afford a Bonanz? I just worry about being able to afford one. My RV7 is all glass and I love it but it is not much fun to fly in turbulence. My wife can tell you about that.
I would like one with 260 or 285. V-tail or Straight tail.
In short, I am just needing guidance and help. I just don't know a lot about Bonanza's.
I just know my wife and I love them.

Hi Darren,
the debonair that you propose is a very economical option on a seat*mile basis compared to just about any other retractable 4 seater
That said, there might be a small sticker shock if your baseline is a plane that: *has a 4-cyl lycoming *uses E/AB avionics and instruments *has slick 2-seater fuel economy *you can wrench on and annual it yourself

I know. My 7 is really inexpensive. Maybe I should just stick with my 7. I do love it a lot but I cannot say I do not drool when I see a nice Bonanza.

In doing the cost workup, think about:
*) Do you know an A&P/IA who likes to do owner assisted annuals? Can you do most of the work and minimize the use of expensive mechanic time? *) Do you know anyone that can help you find and do a pre-buy mechanical assessment of the airplane you want? If you buy a mechanically sound plane at a sane price, it helps a lot. *) Are you OK with the kind of avionics that exist in your price range for certified aircraft? For example, steam gauges in front of the pilot, but perhaps a WAAS gps, and an older autopilot? Or do you need all glass?
There are some cost spreadsheets on BT if you look around. For what it does (4-person IFR transport at 160+ kts) a Bonanza is a good value relative to other airplanes. But as a hobby aviation is expensive compared to other avocations!

Darren, Everything is a trade-off. I bought a nice Debonair (1967 C33A) and flew it for 5 years....loved it. I then went to an RV-6 for various reasons (tailwheel, aerobatics, less expensive maintenance) and flew it for 2 years all around the country (literally). Yes, the roominess is lacking and the ride in turbulence is poor, sooooo..........I have ended up with a bigger plane. The 310 is my best-ever travelling plane. But, NOTHING has been more fun to fly than the RV....nothing. I now realize that I need TWO planes.

The Bonanza 1/3 more cylinders...
It will use a 1/3 more gas...
The Maintenance will be about 1/3 more if you can find an A&P who will let you do owner assisted annuals and maintenance, with one exception....
Continental Cylinders last 1/2 as long as Lycomings, and you have a 1/3 more of them, so figure on changing an occasional cylinder.....
And Arlen is partially correct, He says 2 airplanes, I have 4.33 airplanes.... Keep the RV and buy a Bo...

Thanks guys for the help. It looks like I am sticking with the RV7. I went from a Cherokee , to an RV8, to my RV7 now. I love my 7 the most.
