Well, enough of this sitting around and looking at log files. I thought I would get a 35 designed around a 470. But the more my wife and I talked, the more I realized she really doesn't care much about flying. But she was actually pushing me to dive back in!.
So after asking around and even looking at a few log books, my attention returned to an A35 I noticed for sale a while back. I know the guy that owned it and gave him a call. And then I sent a local IA to take a quick look for anything obvious. The answer pretty much came back as a "you will never really know until the annual". Minus a few comments about some things to watch for, the IA looked at me like I was nuts for considering a polished bonanza.
So I'm back to the E series bonanzas - I've gotta be crazy..
Well, too late now - I sent off the registration paperwork to OKC over the weekend - she's mine!
The only issue right now is that I'm rusty. I'm grabbing a local young CFI to clear a little rust off the certificate - and then I'll see what happens next. After a flight with the previous owner, I'm confident it is not largely different than my -35. (Given where I stared with the -35, this one is mechanically safer.) Anyway, after the young CFI, I have an appointment to talk with one of the local guys that has pretty much every rating there is, understands old bonanzas and can train an idiot like me. Even with nearly 200 hours in the -35, it still feels like the right thing to do after sitting on the bench for 11 months.
More pics, tall tails and panicked posts hoping Lew and you other gurus will respond when I'm stuck and clueless (as usual).

That could possibly be the best nose wheel line-up line I've ever seen. So cool.

Pretty easy with the winch I have to pull the aircraft in the hangar: the grade is a little steep for one person. (My hangar is on grass - with maybe the best sod main runway I've ever seen. The steeper grade is to ensure water stays out.) Anyway - alignment is pretty easy with the winch. But when the winch isn't available, it's a two person job putting to A35 in the hangar (and I don't push my helpers to align with the dotted line): Attachment: Screen Shot 2017-07-07 at 11.23.15 AM.png Still think the best views are in flight! I was complimenting the hangar floor paint, Brian. It's like she's on her own lil' piece of perpetual Sky-Highway. Really nifty. And the parking job ain't half bad, either.

I seem to also recall this on an ABS cover...
Beaut of a plane!
Glad you're back in an e series- someone's got to keep em flying! I can't claim credit for any of that - as I mentioned, the previous owner did a very good job on this one. It's not "perfect", but this one is a really nice example of an airplane that has been cared for. The EAA winner tag on it is nice, but the ABS clinic sticker made the purchase even easier. This is especially true given the minimal hours flown and limited care of some of the later model aircraft I was looking at. (Hint: if you want to sell an airplane - get some young CFI to fly the **ap out of it while it is listed. Not everything I was looking at, but ... a start.) I'm likely flying it "as is" for a year or so to see what needs maintenance/attention. I have a few things I would like to do to make it look even better. Regardless, this one won't be made to look like a V35B - at least by me. (The air scoop mod on the back I'm keeping, but does look odd on an aircraft this old.)

Spent a good hour or so talking to the previous owner at Osh last year- I think the air scoop was because he removed the swamp cooler- could be wrong though- Looks okay to me!
