Hello everyone,

I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. I began flying in 1967 and became a Private Pilot in 1970. During that time I have been almost completely a Cessna pilot and twice a Cessna owner, both times Cessna 170B's.

I have had two breaks in flying. The first for about 18th years between C-170's and from approximately 2001 until now. I thought that I was cured of the flying disease!

Then against my better judgment, I accepted an invitation from two friends to have lunch with a group of pilots at my old base airport, North Las Vegas Air Terminal. There I renewed many contacts with old friends. This resulted in agreeing to a ride with my friends to Cedar City, UT on a breakfast flight. Another friend had flown up by himself and ask me if I would like to fly back with him in his Bonanza. I think by now you, “know the rest of the story!”

I looked at several aircraft, all of them Cessna. But I had Bonanza on my mind and finally found one.

N6855Q is a 1964 S35. After looking at the Bonanza and taking a test flight we struck a deal and a pre-buy was scheduled. Unfortunately this turned up an engine in need of an overhaul due to cam and lifter corrosion. I can't tell you how much I was impressed with the honor and integrity of the two brothers that owned this Bonanza. They were as shocked as I was by this turn of events and didn't want to see this fine Bonanza reduced to scrapyard derelict. We were able to negotiate a deal that will allow this beautiful Bonanza to continue to fly.

The third person that I would like very much to thank for his integrity is Jim Michalka, of Kalamazoo Aircraft Inc. Jim had one person that he had never met before or could never see again, me, and two long time customers. His honesty and integrity never failed him and he reported to us both with total honesty. I can't say enough good things about him and his entire family as Kalamazoo Aircraft, is truly a family affair.

So the re-manufactured engine has arrived the prop is off for an IRAN inspection and the journey is continuing.

Tom

Welcome aboard.
Accepting a ride in Bo is a very dangerous thing indeed.
I was bitten by that bug about 5 minutes in to my first Bo ride.
Stopped looking at Cirri and everything's else...
2 months later I was an owner.

Congrats! That's awesome!

When I started flying I thought I would upgrade to a C210 as an upgrade to my first plane, a C172, but then the seductive power of the Bonanza bit me too. I had never considered nor been interested in anything but Cessnas up to that point. I found myself in the back seat of a demo flight for a V35B that came up for sale on my home field, and as soon as we got airborne and I heard the gear coming up while looking out the window, a huge grin came over my face, and I knew I was going to buy this magnificent machine. Owned it a week later! 16 years and it's better than ever.

You are going to LOVE it!

Nice S-35! Congratulations!
Is this the aircraft that has an original factory interior and has won awards for it? I think I remember a similar or maybe this aircraft with the original factory curtains and interior during my Bonanza search back in 2013.

Welcome, Tom!

Gorgeous S35!

Not sure why an impending overhaul would threaten such a beautiful bird with the scrapyard, but glad you were able to negotiate a deal that made you happy.

Cam and lifter corrosion was probably from sitting - these birds need to fly - be sure to get yours in the air regularly!

It did win an award at AirVenture 2008. I have a letter from Tom Poberezny which accompanied the award by do know what it was for as the letter doesn't say. The interior appears to be original but is not up to award winning standards now. I like the old school look of the curtains!

Doc,
You are right very short flights and low hours for several years.

It is D-7464. I think they must have once been very close family members!
