Greetings all - I'm a 130-hour pilot as of May 2017. I started flying gliders in the early 80s because that was my father's interest - no idea how many hours I had back then and the log book is long gone. I never made it to solo but at age 48 my wife and I decided it was time for me to get my pilot's license. I retired from the Army with over 26 years of service and am working hard at my second career...but not too hard that it prevents me from flying at least once a week.

Primary training was in a Diamond DA-20. The last day I flew her was the day I passed my checkride. I miss that plane!

I started instrument training the next week in a Cessna 172N and need less than 10 more hours of actual/simulated time before I can take that checkride. I am projecting that will happen in June of 2017.

I anticipate buying a plane in the next 180-days.

Funny that you say that...I ask my instructor to fly whenever it rains. Here's a mediocre video of me flying the ILS 8R approach at KSUS a couple of weeks ago. The plane damn near sparkled by the time we landed!

I spent 11 years enlisted: Combat Engineer (12C), Tanker (19E), Air Defense Artillery (16S), Recruiter (79T).
The next 15 were in the officer corps: Transportation branch (88D), Multifunctional Logistician (90A), Senior Human Resources Officer (42H) and Joint-Duty Qualified.
I also qualified as an instructor both as an NCO and as an officer.
