I'm a retired AF cargo pilot, now into GA to stay close to flying and do compassion flying. I teach in the ANG C-17 simulator at KMRB, and fly out of there and KCXY. After flying various other makes, I ran into some Beech enthusiasts and helped start Beech Aero Club of Frederick at KFDK flying a 1963 Debonair. I love the way it flies and BPPP was a great start to learning to fly it right. I also like all the info on this site to help me learn more about the community.
I recently came across a K35 for sale locally. I'm considering purchasing, either individually or trying to use it to form another flying club focusing on cross country use. A fellow club owner is an A&P who made the first pass over records and aircraft condition, and the initial impression is good potential: looks to be a solid airframe that has been cared for, but needs fresh avionics. At this stage I have 2 basic questions: 1-any experience out there with the K35, to recommend for/against? (lots of folks seem to be partial to their year model); and 2-since I don't have any Beech experience other than my Deb, how do I connect with local pilots willing to show off their J/K/M35 so I can get a feel for how this model flies?
Thx, John

It has aux tanks (10 gal each) and D'Shannon tip tanks (15 gal each). Fuel system does seem complicated, but there's enough gouge out there in BPPP or BT that I'm sure I can figure it out. I like the options that much fuel brings.
Airframe has 3050 TT, engine is 245 SMOH. Engine has been upgraded to N at OH.
All avionics are old, except STEC 60-2 AP. The 2-axis AP is a big plus for me, I can catch up later on avionics, especially with all the part 23 reforms coming.
Not too many local options on the Beech Ambassador list, but I'll work local contacts.
Thx!

Tips each have a transfer pump to it's respective main tank. We're working through the records (seem complete, but not all documentation found yet) to confirm all the work was properly done, and where.

We're working through the records (seem complete, but not all documentation found yet) to confirm all the work was properly done, and where. The transfer system makes for easier fuel management, but the issue of a failed pump and inability to xfer has to be considered. In my 18 years with the xfer system that has only happened once and while it occurred at a distant remote location, it wasn't a big deal. It was solved by a syphon hose and 5 gallon fuel container after landing. The S-tec 60 is a BIG plus. A good used 430W installed with an indicator and coupled to the AP and you are good for WAAS approaches...

Hi, John! Looks like a nice bird! Best wishes with your decision. Looks like you've had one offer already, but have you checked the mentor list? Someone might have that or a similar model: mentor.phpDoc
