Hello everyone, I registered last year but I didn't really know what kind of airplane I wanted or mission. You can search forever because there are so many different types of airplanes out there I narrowed it down two brands....Mooney and Beechcraft. The Beechcraft Bonanza A36 won my loyalty because of many factors: #1. Useful Load The Mooney I took interest in can only fit myself and my wife and maybe a small bag. With the Bonanza I can bring my wife and two other friends. #2. Uncertainty of the company I don't know how long Mooney is going to stay around. The elimination of the M10 is a red flag to me. What are they going to do in the future and will the new model spark interest in the brand. #3. Haven't met many people with a Mooney. This is totally subjective but I don't see as many Mooney owners as I do Beech owners. I'm here to stay!! The learning process will be fun!!

I used to fly an M20F (many hours) and I've loaded it up for long flights, three adults, baggage and a child plus full fuel flying out of a LONG bitumen runway. (maybe I could have spent a bit more time on the W&B charts then). I would guess that I have more time in it than in the A36. I probably won't fly a Mooney again, unless I had to. For me the Bo is a more rugged, a superior-performing aircraft in my opinion. And more fun to fly. I just like the Bo.
I fly A36s into rough, shortish bush airstrips in Central Aust and I wouldn't fly a M into a lot of them: the low prop clearance is an issue on rough dirt strips. G'Day Frank, I hope all is well, Haven't been to Australia yet and I need to go out there soon, It's beautiful there. Well, the problem with the Mooney, (Subjective) My weight starts out at 250 without clothes so my options are pretty limited in what I can do with friends without being over gross. Don't get me wrong Mooney's are awesome airplanes but they cannot fit my mission profile. I sat in a BO at Sun and fun and I fit just fine, I haven't been up in one though so with some time we will see how that works out. Thanks for reaching out, keep in touch!! RJ
