Hi Folks!
Done most of my flying in a 172 out of KMTN in Baltimore. Have close to 275 hours and a tailwheel endorsement (in an Aeronca Champ).
Moved to the Boston area a year a go and looking to get back to flying and and interested in transitioning to and buying a Bonanza. Would much appreciate any advice/suggestions you folks might have about transitioning/flying/owning one.
Warm regards,
Rishab

The search tool is your friend but you can also search Beechtalk through Google. When you get ready to buy one, BT is also a great source of other people helping you spend money. Thanks David. Just ordered the book on amazon. Looking forward to learning more from past discussions.

Rishab Rishab, Good luck on your search. In order to be sure that the Bonanza is the right plane for you, and if it is, which model and individual Bonanza is right, you need to consider: 1: What is your acquisition budget. Whether financing or cash, what it the total one time cost you are prepared to comfortably pay. Allow for taxes and a 10% reserve for maintenance & squawks. 2: What is your mission 90% of the time. How often will you fly, how far, how many pax, and with how much stuff. Make sure this is the real mission you will have, not the one you wish you had or think you might have. If you can't answer this question with some certainty, rent till you have a better idea. 3: What is your annual budget for ownership. How many hours per year for fuel, oil, and to a lesser extent maintenance. What is the budget for hangar or tie-down space, insurance, taxes, etc. Bill

Whereabouts in the "Boston Area"?
Lots of Bonanzas at 6B6, KBED, and others...
Doc I currently stay in Cambridge. Have been to a couple of the airports around here: Lawrence and Minuteman. Heading to Athol-Orange this weekend for a visit. Are you based in the area?

Thanks Bill. Completely agree with the rational process for aircraft selection you have elucidated.
#1 Looking at at a late 50s early 60s 35 Bonanza. Have the financial pieces worked out.
#2 Looking to make bimonthly trips to Pittsburg and additionally local trips in the Boston NH NYC areas.
#3 Expect to hit 70-100 hours of flying a year and budget accordingly.
Happy to connect offline to learn more if you had any additional thoughts!

Minuteman - 6B6 - should be there tomorrow, in fact...
