Congrats on what appears to be an exceptionally well taken care of bird.
Am curious what you forecast for hourly cost. Do you think $400/hr captures everything?

Also, now that you have 10 hours or so in the bird I see that ground speeds are running mid 220's to 230's at altitude. What TAS are you getting there? Ever been in an Aerostar? how does the cabin compare? I think that the AEST 601P would be slightly more speed on a bit less fuel but is the cabin drastically smaller? I will bet the C421B is a bit quieter as well, yea?
Carry on. Brian, My typical speeds so far have been 215 to 225 at FL230 . I'm burning about 40gph with very cool temps. I have been in an Aerostar and love them. They are 20kts faster for the same fuel. They also climb a lot better....so then why did I get a 421?? Comfort,Space and more comfort.... Extremely easy to fly. Over 2.2k of useful with a great CG.....oh and it is soooo quiet even at haul ass rpm of 1900

BTW, why are the L/R FF's so different in that video? Are they not accurate? The analog fuel flow meter is accurate in certain parts of its range like full throttle but not in the 18-25gph range. Obviously the JPI Fuel flow is dead on. When I take it in for annual in sept I'm going to have that looked at... That speed was at the louder 1900rpms. It is quieter at 1800 but not by much. This B model has the wider cord props which do smooth it out ....

While you've got them looking at the FF gauges, you might want to take JC's lead and have them install a PPT switch in the aft lav as well. VERY convenient!

Unless you do your own maintenance, have a cheap hangar, and buy cheap self serve fuel all of the time, you'll never get the hourly cost down to $450/hour! Robert
