So - how do all those single engine Beech a/c get to Australia? Do they always get ferried over there? I know there are people that do this for a living, but that seems like a lot of open water

Hello everyone, my name is Kelly McBride. I have about 1400 hours as PIC and the rest of my life I have pretty much wasted. Fortunately, about 900 hours was in a Debonair and another 300 in my beloved V-tail, Baby Doll.
The first time I flew a V-tail Bonanza was at the ripe age of three on my Dad's lap. (1959) I started my flight training at 14 and got my license at 18. Would have had it earlier if it weren't for the small incident taking up a girl on a Student License just before my Private checkride. Dad said I was thinking with the wrong part of my body. Good thing I have a Private Pilot ticket, as that still happens from time to time.
A lot of Beech fellows may have read my story in the ABS Magazine, "Going too Green" in the December, 2007 issue. I have the distinction of being the only Bonanza pilot who has participated in the B2Osh formation flight, but arrived at OSH in a Hyundai after unsuccessfully trying to harvest corn for the ABS Barbeque. Probably won't try that again.
The good news is that I will definitely be at Oshkosh this year, and Baby Doll is looking better than ever. The good thing about having your V-Tail totaled, is that upgrading is easier when the airframe is in pieces. We have rebuilt the plane better than new, with every goodie available, from turbonormalizing, tip tanks, new glass, speed brakes, new paint, and a new prop. I am now finishing the interior with Irish burl accents and some other enhancements that are state-of-the-art. The panel has an EHSI, MFD, 530W, dual AI, and glass engine monitor.

Welcome to the Beech-nut asylum. Heh. Agreed! Welcome Kelly, good to see you sign up. If I can figure out how to get to Oshkosh I'll look you up.

John Bailey, You have a beautiful, nice Bonanza. Didn't mean to slight you on the overall appearance/panel/interior of your Bo with my post to Kelly. 'Looks like you're in the One Per Cent Club too. Welcome to BeechTalk.

Here is a picture of it at RFD, on Saturday morning. May be one of the last in its old configuration. It certainly looks very nice now. Did you get rid of the radar dish in the leading edge? Hello, John: Say hi to Terry for me and thank him again for selling me his airplane. As a part of the restoration, we rebuilt the entire left wing and most of the right that had the radar. As you may know, the RCA unit is pretty much useless and failed on the second flight after I left Indiana with the plane, so I had removed it previously and had planned on re-doing the leading edge anyway. During the crash, the corn stalks beat in the front edges and because they were 9' tall, they whipped back to dent the rear skins also. This gave me a chance to install speed brakes, add tip-tanks, re-do all of the wiring in the wings, put in new fuel bladders and fuel lines. We also overhauled the landing gearbox, put in new flap actuators and motor and anything else associated with the wings. We also spent a lot of time to perfect the rigging so that the plane would fly perfect. Pretty much the same with the nosebowl and everything firewall forward that was reviewed for form and function, including new primary wires, and a new brake fluid reservoir. (It had a small dent from a careless mechanic.) Thank you, Max, for your kind comments. Given the depth of the restoration, I think Bonanza lovers will appreciate that we spent a lot of time and money to try to make this plane better than new.
