Unfair, that was a neat trick. In theory it should have worked. I probably should have attempted it earlier in the proceedings. That is of course whether I actually did attempt it at all.

Apologies BT'ers, I have overedited this thread, but thankfully mellowed my response.

David

I would not dream of representing you in the way you have represented me on this site.

John is not only a funny guy with a keyboard, but funny in real life. A genuine sophisticated intelligent and funny guy.

Not likely to be a dull moment. His dear wife is an amazing woman!

Catherine
I am thinking of getting out to Stonefield on the 18th, weather permitting and I will see if I can rouse up Nitschke and the little fella's with their Tomahawks.
Is this a day event or overnighter with a swag and I am assuming we bring our own provisions?

It will be a big p*ssup/BBQ or food of some sort and bonfire. Swag would be a good idea. We'll try to make sure good red is available. Redmond our president is in charge of that.

Hopefully the new K13 will be on the airfield for the first time. :)

You can have a ride in my old vintage Kookaburra if you like. The nimbus currently has a failed magneto.

I should add - we are a winch club. CTAF is 126.7 but the club operates the winch on UHF so comms to ground could be unreliable.

If the winch is at one end and the glider is wings level at the other - we are about to launch!

Wire can extend in excess of 1500' AGL.

Join downwind not crosswind to ensure you don't overfly a cable you might not have seen. Don't overfly the strip below 2000' AGL (Airfield Elevation is 330').

We will see you/hear you in the circuit and stop operations so you can land. I'll try to carry my handheld.

Lots of runways to choose from. 11-29 and 23-15 It's prudent to cross the cross strip intersections slowly. They are good at the moment but the winch can wear tracks across them.

Hi Catherine,

Did you ever get my email response? I want to make sure it didn't get lost in cyberspace or in your junk mail folder. Thanks!

Hi Neal

Yes I got your response and really appreciated it - thanks. I thought I'd replied but things have been a bit hectic here finishing off this glider survey so it can go on the Australian register (imported from Germany).

John will see it Saturday - are you still coming to Stonefield John?

Now I'm playing a waiting game to get a job but in the mean time the kids are trying to talk me into bringing out an LS4 from germany.

Sigh already too many gliders (if thats possible)

Cath

Shame the weather prevented John and John from flying in. Still we had a good meal, a good bonfire and some very good reds.

For those requesting pics, this is what the weekend was about. I bought this aircraft for the gliding club in March, shipped it out (with three others). I'd just finished the airworthiness survey and it was rigged for the first time on Australian soil. We also did the weight and balance.
