My old Twin Bonanza is operated by a gentleman who runs a fleets of ferries in an island nation. He moves people, and ferry parts around everyday. Tbone's are great for hauling a load, nice to have two overwater, and the acquisition costs are so low you can cover gas for years.
I had a da40 for 600 hours. I loved that plane, just needed more room.
Welcome to BT.

Dennis, I have had an experience very similar to you. I wanted to move from a twin to a A36. My nervous wife got involved and expressed she felt a lot more comfortable over the water which we are on every flight with the twin. At that time I looked into B55 Barons and ended up buying one. The A36 is a great plane and the big rear doors are wonderful. However knowing Orcas Island airport quite well I would want to try a couple flights departing to the South with a TN A36 before I committed to one.
Here is why I would consider a Baron if I were you.
-Barons are very cheap to purchase compared to a good A36. -Your trips are short, fuel is not a consideration -Trips are mostly over water or rough terrain. -You can overhaul 2 IO-470s for the cost of a IO550 TN.
I am based at Boundry Bay, just North of Orcas. I would be happy to meet on Orcas some day for coffee if you wish to discuss your options.
Dave
