Grant, Where did you go through UPT and what was your class number? I was in 73-03 at Shepard. Also, did you ever run across T.C. Cambell in AT-38's? I'm assuming you were at Holloman.

Hi all,
I've been reading this forum for a few weeks in preparation for my upcoming purchase. Now that everything but the pre-buy and closing are done (feeling pretty good about both) I thought I would introduce myself/my plane.
It's a 2006 G36 TN with about 450hrs. It has most of what I think are the standard options or at least the options that most people seem to get: A/C, Traffic, Oxygen, tinted windows; it also has the heated prop and boombeam landing light. No tips but depending on how I fly it, I may add them in a year or two (i know most people have them and love them, but I'm going to wait a while and see if I really want or need them).
I am stepping up from a 182 (also a G1000) so hopefully, the learning curve on the glass won't be bad. The previous owner stepped up to a TBM 850, so it worked out well for both of us.
I'm based in the California Bay area. I have a few questions, but almost everything has already been answered in other posts. This is a really great/helpful group, I'm glad I found it.
I don't have any pictures yet, but I'll post them as soon as I take delivery (in a week or so, weather permitting). I'm really excited about the new plane and from what it sounds like from reading the boards, that level of excitement and happiness will only increase the more I fly it.

Michael, congratulations on the new purchase. Sounds like you have quite an awesome airplane on your hands (or soon to be on your hands). I think you will find that the tips will make a really nice compliment to the TAT system, given the higher fuel burns associated with going fast since it burns a few gallons per hour more than the NA version up high. Since you already have the 4000lb GWI you don't need them for that but the tips will give you more options such as tankering fuel and extended range/endurance (especially when the weather sucks). I think they are one of the most valuable add-on's for a Bonanza (though others on here might disagree). -Neal

Neil, From what I've read your take on the tips is exactly right. That being said, I've got tons of time (being only 25) to really figure out how I'm going to use it, so I'm going to really learn how to fly it, then see if the tips are really something that I will want to add, given my typical flights over the next year or so.
As promised, here are some pictures of the plane. I apologize for the views, I took them as part of a quick walk around, just to get a sense of the plane, but didn't get any good profile shots. I've got a photographer friend, so hopefully I'll get some good snaps to post.
Sorry about blocking out the N-number. The sale hasn't closed yet, so I don't want to post that information without the actual owner's consent.

Hi, my name's Gary and I live in rural north central Washington State. I am getting back into aviation after 20 years and quite excited. I'm likely buying a model M Bonanza w/hanger and doing it the hard way. Where I live there is no trainers to rent and it looks like I am going to jump right into the Beech. I have a good, highly experienced and patient instructor lined up for as much dual as it takes. My last plane was a 69 Arrow and I don't remember much about it. I've been doing ground work and will be scouring these boards for all I can gleen. I'm open to any suggestions and in no big hurry for cross country. One question I have, where can I rent or purchase dual yokes? Another question, what reading material is suggested to to start my friendship with this bird? Thanks guys and I'm looking forward to learning your names.

Absolutely. Fly the plane the way it is and you can figure out the various upgrades, if any, down the line. The plane I fly has it backwards...tips first...TAT down the line. Also added 2 auxiliary landing lights as well as replaced the main landing light with an HID light (highly recommended for $695). -Neal

The lights are a good idea. Luckily, the soon-to-be-previous owner added the Boombeam light. I think I'll see what that does before adding the gear lights.

Get some time with your instructor, sign up for the BPPP and welcome! I was up yesterday polishing up my Commercial maneuvers before my checkride... what an amazing machine floating up and over the top on my lazy eights. You are joining the knowing few! There always seems to be 2 or 3 sources for a twin yoke. There's also an FAA provision for receiving instruction in your" Single Yoke Bo ". This too can be found on the ABS website.
