Hi, i read some of the threads but never posted. My husband and I are both professional pilots. We've owned a couple of c172, one - c150, last aircraft was a Barron 55 in the past. Now, we are without a plane and we are considering an F33. We would love an a36 but can't quite afford it in our price range. Our major concern is the CG movement. Comments?

That would be a A36.

The 33's have a narrow range of CG, about 4.6", but an intelligent pilot will have no problem loading the plane to maximum gross weight and staying within balance. Just use common sense and load the plane with the heaviest persons/stuff forward.

Enjoy your hunt. You will love the plane. If you like the way a Baron flies you will love the way a Bonanza flies.

I echo Max's comments. They are spot on. Consider one with tip tanks. It'll greatly increase the aircraft's usefulness. BTW, I love mine.

As you know, weight and balance figures can differ substantially between same make and model planes depending on installed equipment. Some of the planes I owned have out-of-date W&B. I've even discovered math errors as the W&B has been updated through the years with equipment changes. I have an F33A and have no CG problems with 4 adults and reasonable bags but any plane can be loaded so that following a few hours fuel burn it might be at or beyond CG. Just carefully look at the prospective plane's weight and balance decide how your normal or usual load and mission will work out. Good Luck.

I had a C-33A, which is basically the same aircraft. I was amazed at how narrow the CG graph was. If I always stayed within the graph I would have had to cancel or modify many flights. Note-I was very aware of the CG envelope and got close. As has been mentioned put the heavy people up front. In reality I never noticed much change in feel or performance and definely never had a problem in 1300 plus hrs in that aircraft. You will learn instinctively in short order where to set the trim wheel depending on how the aircraft is loaded.. I do remember my instrument check ride that I had to put 15 lbs in luggage compartement to be legal.

Welcome, Ana.

And why not a 35 model??????? :bat: CG can be easier to work with than a 33 because of the lighter tail.

Also on most V35B's if you take off within CG it will stay there as the fuel burns off since as you get lighter the envelope opens up...

Welcome to BeechTalk!

Tell us a little about your intended mission. The F33A is a great airplane.

If budge is a consideration, I echo the comments to look at the 520 powered model 35. Better bang for the buck, and they look a lot cooler. A lot :woot:
