I'm a newbie and I don't own a Beechcraft...yet! I'm looking seriously into purchasing either a V35B, a Baron or a Duke. I'd like to stay in the sub-200k range. So, I need a little advice about ownership costs.

Thanks!

Joe,
Welcome to BeechTalk.

What's your flying mission? What will you do with whichever plane you buy?

Welcome Joe,

all ya got... that's how much. Actually , there are fixed costs and then the marginal for fuel and breakage.

V35 would be the least operationally IMHO. DUKE will help you score the most, but empty your wallet fastest. Just generalizations.
See www.CSOBeech.com for Baron info. while the acquisition cost is low, operational coast in fuel is almost , but not quite doubled. And it's a bit more for inspections. OTOH if your flying a lot over water or IFR at night or mountains two motors can be nice.

I'm a retired airline pilot and want to get back into general aviation. I have friends and relatives living all over the place, and it'd be nice to visit them without having to go through airport security again. :D I've done that enough for a lifetime! My wife would be flying with me, and maybe a couple of friends on occasion.

Commercial flying spoiled me as far as electronics are concerned. It looks like Garmin is a major player in the general aviation industry! And I thought all they did was GPS for cars...shows you where my head has been!

I also like the idea of retractable gear and speed. And I like IFR vs VFR...only because that's what I did for 30 plus years.

As much as I'd like a twin, for something in the less than $200k range, the V35B (or maybe a 36?) looks about right. Any thoughts??? Thanks!
