Hi fellow Beechtalkers I have been active on Beechtalk for some time but have not formally introduced myself. I have been flying since 1987 and have owned several aircraft including 3 Bonanzas, an Aerostar and a Baron 58. The aircraft I am fortunate to own now is a 2007 G36 Bonanza. I traded my 58 Baron with a friend who bought KAU new but did not fly often enough to become comfortable with the G1000. Since acquiring the aircraft with TT 160hrs I have upgraded the G1000 to WAAS (option 3) and added the Tornado Alley TN kit. I usually fly in the mid teens with TAS in the low 190's. It's a truly remarkable aircraft for a single engine piston. The more I fly KAU the more I appreciate it's performance and capability. I live in Sydney, Australia, if any of you are ever in Town send me an email. Eric Attachment: P1010961.jpg

I see what you mean - I was probably not precise enough.
Everything above the ground at Canberra Airport is very friendly - ATC, other pilots, weather etc.
But when you're on the ground, the unique security procedures are difficult and the costs are outrageous. For example, I have in front of me my latest bill from Avdata. The airport usage cost for Canberra Airport is $17.68 per day if you park on the grass, and $23.56 per day if you presume to park on a piece of tarmac. Multiply that by around 365 if you want to make your wallet cringe.
Don't bother asking for a hangar space, 'cause there ain't any except in hangars earmarked for the bulldozer. The outrageous costs are very true Clinton I did 2 ILS's at Tamworth 3 weeks ago. The first was down to 1000' AGL due to conflicting traffic. 2nd was also held above MDH due to traffic on base. Got the bill last week, 126 dollars for the affair. Called them up and told them in a very polite way , that I will not be returning to their lovely airport. Didn't even get a hamburger. Neil Keller

Well the rest of you Beechies from OZ, now is the time to bitch to AirServices with submissions being called for in the up-coming review of charges - it might fall on deaf ears but if we do not lodge a protest we ain't going to have a hope in hell anyway. Regards Kevin

Where are you based in Sydney?
I'm in Canberra, and Canberra Airport is not very GA-friendly.
Magnificent aircraft, by the way.
Regards
Clinton Hi Clinton I'm based at Bankstown Airport. We also pay a fortune for the privilege of using Bankstown airport. The government sold us out to big business. I hope the USA learn from our mistakes. Private pilots cannot fund large aviation infrastructure with user fees. General aviation needs to be recognised for the important role it plays. Thanks for your comments. Regards Eric
