Hello everyone,
I'm rather new as a pilot, but been flying right seat for 30 years. Finally I've decided to get into a new aircraft for my business/pleasure operations. I'm juggling between the fantastic TBM900 and the formidable 90GTX, as my primary choices. I've decided to buy new because of security and manufacturer guarantees, since I plan to fly single most of the time, with family and partners on board.
I'm very glad to be part of this forum and I expect to meet very interesting "flying" people.
Cheers

Sorry I haven't keep any pics.
I got right seat hours on C402, C206, C210 and BE55. I'm looking forward to get time in turbines.
Cheers

Hey Albert, welcome to BeechTalk!

Funny, I just got home the other day from being in Bogota the whole month of April. I keep threatening to fly my airplane all the way to Guaymaral, but it's been 10 years and haven't done it yet.

I would love to learn more about flying in Colombia. If you're ever in Houston let me know, I'll take you flying.

Thank you guys for your warmth welcome.
Tyler I'm sure get in touch with you if I come to Houston any time soon. I would love to help you with any question you might have about Colombian GA aviation.

Keith, I know both aircraft are excellent, and that's what what makes any decision so difficult. Feel free to chip in any thoughts.

Best

AJB

Give us some more info if you can. How many passengers and how far will your normal trips be?

Looks like the max payload for the TBM900 is 1,410 lbs. and the max payload for the 90GTX is 2,143 lbs. but the TBM900 is faster and will burn quite bit less fuel. So it really depends on your mission. :peace:

Welcome aboard Albert!

I too struggle with that choice. The 90 is an incredible plane, and I am in love with the cabin! I want new, but the Garmin panel is something I really want to get. I am not sure the 90 is being built with the proline fusion yet. I have not really compaired the two panels. A small jet would also work. If I can make peace with flying a single, the 900 would be a done deal. Really each plane has it's merits and is a winner.

Mission profile and what you are willing to accept is very important.

Albert,

My first thought in terms of the TBM / C90 choice is what are your local operating regs/conditions in Colombia?

Are there significant restrictions on the operation of single engine aircraft? What are your fuel prices? What local maintenance expertise do you have? Is there anything in terms of taxes/pilot training/etc that favors one plane over the other?

We are quite lucky in the US to have very few artificial, external constraints that push people into certain models, but I know such conditions are common overseas.
