What's a Cessna taildragger pilot doing here? Well...I think that "BeechTalk" is a great resource, regardless of what you fly! After a professional motor racing career back in the 70s, I worked as an air taxi pilot and flight instructor, then quit flying for 22 years before buying my 185 Skywagon in 2012. I live in Montana, on the border with Idaho, so spend a lot of time exploring back country airstrips, camping and fishing. Attachment: IMG_2475.JPG

Welcome to BT. I love the picture. At some point I want to get a back country plane which I can put floats on, bush tires... A 185 is a common recommendation. When I get to this point in a few years expect some questions!
Tim Yes, by all means, I can help out with answers on the Skywagon. Since getting back to flying these planes, I have had the pleasure to met some very knowledgeable people, who have helped me refurbish my 185. Since I sold my last one back in the 90s, there are now a lot of STCs and other improvements that make this great airplane even better. The 185 makes flying the back country very enjoyable since it can carry a big load of camping gear in and out of short, rough strips and climb out safely in mountainous terrain. It's a good handling plane but takes some extra care, like most taildraggers, on take off and landing.
