Hi, I'm looking for a family airplane! I need 5 seats, vfr ok, prefer fixed gear, but would consider retracts. What Beech models would ya'll recommend? Id like to stay under $50,000 Boyce

Id like to stay under $50,000 Boyce I don't know if you're going to find a 36 for under $50K that won't cost you money after the purchase. The 5th seat is useless in a 33 or a 35. Have you looked at a Cherokee 6?

The Cherokee is high on my list. I should have also mentioned I fly from sea level with 300nm or less trips 99% of time...

I'm 5'8" and 180, wife 145, kids are young still 6, 8 and 9 years old...

Boyce.....my last plane was a Cherokee Six PA32-260. I don't believe you'll find any single engine aircraft that will do more for less. Dirt simple systems....and fairly reasonable and straight forward, as aircraft go, to maintain.  You're not gonna get a $50K Bonanza to do that.....
