I'm based in Los Angeles and I own an Aerostar 601P. I used to own an old Commander, but I just upgraded this summer to the A*. Reason I signed up for BT was it seems like there's a lot of good information here and a lively forum. I'm not very familiar with Beech's, but I do like the look of them and I hear good things. Had a few rides, but that's about it.

Adam,

Welcome to BT. Now since I know from AOA that you take great photos; so I expect to see some very nice ones here of your plane. (Yes I know you are doing your engines now, but I bet you have some great pictures).

Trip LA to NY. Fuel stop in Colorado somewhere.

Good fuel economy at 194kts.

Starting descent into Peoria, IL after a thunderstorm.

Just a local bimble around home airport in LA at night.

You either love or hate that entry into the cabin.

She wasn't just a runout, she was 300hrs over TBO when I bough it. I got almost another 100hrs for free out of her before I decided to overhaul both engines, which is still ongoing (but getting closer to the end). Hasn't been cheap.

I decided to buy a runout for three reasons. One is very easy - it was all I could afford! Two is I live in California and they charge a one time sales tax (bastards) when you purchase aircraft, which makes it more sensible to get in cheap and upgrade within state. Third - it meant I didn't have to finance. People always say you should never buy a runout, because the money you sink in to the engines you won't get back. True, but if you have to finance to buy a more expensive airplane with newly O/H engines, then this is a better deal. I can pay as I go along.

Plane has been great during our brief tenure. Had a leaking O-ring in the main gear actuator, but that's about it in 80hrs of flying. I look forward to getting her back.
