Welcome, my Lonoke county brother! I grew up about 45 min down the road from you in England. My folks are still there. Now I live on a little airpark just south of Memphis in Hernando, MS (H75). I followed some of your earlier posts. Glad you decided to go for it!

My Bo has been down since this winter for a major panel overhaul. I'm about to finish it up now though. Maybe we can hook up sometime. I fly over to see my folks fairly often. It's a little less than an hour. You're welcome to stop in at H75 anytime.

Nice! Might give me a reason to head toward Memphis! Just never ventured that way by air (ok, minus the nearly weekly airliner trips I have through there on Delta.)

I'm usually at the EAA fly in at Carlisle (moved from Country Air) the second Saturday of each month. Not 100% sure I will fly my Bo in October or not - I'm just about to finish up the required CFI dual hours for the insurance. Would like to get enough V Tails there to offset the swarm of RVs that fly in each month...

Let me know if you are headed my way -

brian

Mr. Howard....... make sure Pete makes it to Knoxville on the 26th of October.....you will not regret it. Also, good call on the "pals before gals" name on your bird.....that E series will not let you down.

Thanks for the invitation. I'm close enough that Tullahoma would be a great initial cross country - but it's all based on if I feel I'm ready. I should be through the insurance minimum hours by then, but I do want a few solo hours here in central Arkansas (an area I know well) first.

This weekend, I'm hoping to finally sit down an talk with another E-Series owner. If he is going, I'll try to hitch a ride if I'm not ready myself.

I already know more about my 35 than any of the other aircraft I've flown - but wow, do I have a lot more to learn...

Brian, I felt the same way when I first owned my Bo.
I am fortunate to be surrounded by professional and general aviation pilots with lots of experience, ratings and good cheer.
I was and still am always asking around if they want to come and fly with me.
There is flying with an instructor and there there is flying with a buddy who is also a pilot.
It's quite different.
I encourage you to find some pilots who can fly with you. Even in our company jet,we have mentor pilots.... This is for guys with ATP ratings!
Have fun with your new Bo. Develop a curriculum for yourself, even after you have "qualified".
First solo night, first cross wind over 12 knots, first VFR on top, first 2 hr cross-country trip then 3, etc. fly to as many different new airports as possible. Even with all our modern tools, it's still a thrill to "find" that field you were aiming for.
First flight through class B, etc etc.,

I'm fortunate - we have several EAA chapters here. The RV guys are most popular, but there are several V-Tails attending as well. It's a huge knowledge pool of pilots - some A&P's and/or CFI's as well. Lots of good hangar talk and ideas for where and how to fly .. most good (some, not so much)..

Fly safe...
