I've got an Aspen and Century IV and an EA100. My vacuum pump is now in the scrapyard.

I have an Aspen Pro 1000, an EA500 and an ESI500 AI for standby. The STCs with that equipment allowed me to remove my dual vacuum pumps on my 2000 A36. I have KFC225 autopilot.

That's the same with my system. Had to keep the vacuum artificial horizon so it could feed AC input to my older Bendix 810 autopilot. The glass systems, or at least the Aspens put out DC. Would eliminate most of my autopilot capability. Still works great though.

The EA100 (and GAD43) can be made to work with the FCS810. Will take a DER and a little engineering but a competent shop can pull it off.

Can the Aspen Flight Director been switched in the Menu from V-Bar Indication to X-Bar Indication?

Thanks for the Thread Warren, good idea! Like your NGT, mine is about to get installed.

Good to know. I'm growing tired of my current set up. I have been watching some Aspen videos and it looks really sweet. A ton of features packed into that screen. I think the situational awareness it provides is a huge safety consideration.

Here is a picture of my Aspen EDF1000. The filled hole in the panel on the left is where the pressure gauge used to be. I have a box full of pumps and tubing including a nice backup pump if anyone is interested. The electric (mechanical) AI on the left serves as my backup, along with the Foreflight on my iPad (over on the right out of the picture). An EA100 drives my KFC225. The EA100/KFC225 combo do a very nice job of flying precision approaches.

Here is a picture of Synthetic vision, although for us flat-landers it pretty much looks the same:

Not unless they have recently added that. I used to pester the Aspen team at OSH every year about that,

For all you Aspen folks -

I had an early Aspen two airplanes ago. I loved the unit, but at night could never get it dim enough that it wasn't too bright. When you got down to the loweer end of the adjustment it didn't get more dim, it just washed out the display. Have they improved that part of the display?

My Aspen is set for autodimming. I’ve not had a problem out of it. My Aspen is 6 years old, with the newest ADS-B update.

Actually, I’ve found my iPads were more annoyingly bright (even when dimmed) until ForeFlight came out with inverted colors and inverted charts.

Can the Aspen 2000 be used as stand alone installation with Backup Battery or do I still need additional Backups like an electric ADI or i.E. a SAM? Inwant to get rid of all the vacuum system and steam gauges.

I was told that I couldn’t get rid of my pressure pumped Attitude Indicator because it is part of the FCS810 autopilot which is coupled to my Aspen PFD.

I love my Aspen. I haven't taken a video during approach. I'll post a few pics, why not? I usually have the geo-referenced plates on the left side when I'm flying an approach, sid, or star. It couples nicely with the JPI960 and GTN's. One of the nice things is the multiple configurations you can put them in - hence several pics. Merry Christmas!
