Great idea.

I've been an ABS Ambassador and never received a contact. I would expect BT to be more effective.

Do you have a badge with a gold star for Max? ;)

Neat idea. One question. What If you can be a mentor for two aircraft. In my case a S35 and Twin Bonanza?

Any requirements like: CFII, 100 hours time in model?, BPPP/BPT graduate, 10,000 posts? I kinda think mentorship badges should involve some kind of qualification.

A minimum of 2830 posts. Wait. 2831. :D

It's about "passionate owners and operators to share their Beech experience with others", and one must own a Beechcraft plane. It's not about flight instruction or even any implication of some type of expertise IMO.

Matt, no, we do not "require" such in order to participate.

The BeechTalk Mentor program is a volunteer program to help pair prospective buyers with current owners of a particular model of Beechcraft for discussion purposes. We do not require one to be a CFI to talk with someone who is seeking advice--this is analogous to how we each engage one another here on the forum everyday. The difference being that those participating in the Mentor program can discuss these things face-to-face, over the telephone, or via email.

Any flight together is optional and is up to those involved. BeechTalk is not endorsing any particular pilot, confirming airworthiness of any aircraft, nor confirming participants meet someone's arbitrary qualification thresholds.

We presume that any flight will be conducted in accordance with all regulatory and insurance requirements. It is up to the participants--the only ones who can really make such determination--to decide whether flights are prudent and safe.

BeechTalk is in no possible position to be involved in every conversation, meeting, and/or flight.

Very cool. I also like how Jeff and Jeff keep improving the site.
All the other new features released this afternoon are also nice touches.

I just signed up for the program.. I think it's a great idea!

Jeff(s), how difficult would it be to add a generic "resume" type selection that included items such as:
-Certificate type (and Beech Type Ratings),
-Additional experience in aircraft (i.e., I've owned a K35 and B55 besides my current V35A) (up to five maybe?,
-Maintenance Rating experience (i.e., A&P, AI and owner participation (All, some, Hands off)), etc.
-Avionics experience (G1000, Aspen, etc.)?

It doesn't need to be a full resume, just some preselected information that could help narrow down Mentors in larger cities.

Thanks
Jason

Jason, thanks for the feedback!

I think for now it would be best to include that sort of information in the comments field. We may eventually make that searchable as well, but for now at least the user could use the information to distinguish between Mentors in the same geographic area.

Thanks!

I added in the comments line,
"IO550B, G500, GTN650/750."

This would help someone who is looking for specific features.
